In the Winter of 2010 historic Park Plaza caught fire destroying the top floor of the building and left much of the interior severely damaged by fire and water. The fire left all the corporate and retail tenants displaced while the building owner worked towards renovating their beloved building. During the renovation Maryland Capital Management (an investment firm previously located on the third floor) took this tragedy and turned it into an opportunity to relocate their office to the new fifth floor addition.
Our client, Maryland Capital, inspired by the clean sleek lines and light tones of the proposed lobby design abandoned their previous traditional aesthetic and opted for a light and airy transitional space. Through programming and space planning exercises the owners of Maryland Capital decided on private offices along the building perimeter with an open office concept in the center for the younger analyst staff. In order bring the light and spectacular city views into the center space modular glass office partitions were used for all the private offices.
